Schizophrenia Caf\u00e9<\/strong> is a bar and club cafe that escapes simple categories. You won't find it in the city's promotional brochures, but almost certainly someone will recommend it to you if you ask for \"a cool, non-obvious place to spend an evening close to downtown.\" Located at 42 Poplar St.<\/strong>, barely a few minutes' walk from the Central Station, is a place you don't go to by accident - only by recommendation, curiosity or intuition.<\/p>\n

It is a locale for those who value laid-back, independent, and no-frills atmosphere<\/strong>. Unassuming on the outside, surprisingly cozy on the inside. Dim lighting, recycled furniture, chalk slogans on the walls and posters of concerts that could have happened yesterday or 15 years ago. Or maybe they are yet to happen.<\/p>\n

Schizophrenia Cafe: a place for music<\/h2>\n

In the evenings, Schizophrenia Caf\u00e9 turns into a microformat scene<\/strong>. You won't find famous headliners or mass audiences here. Instead - jam sessions, open mic, guitar improvisations. Music is not an add-on here - it organic part of the premises<\/strong>. Spontaneous, imperfect, but true.<\/p>\n

It's the perfect space to end the day - solo or in company. With a laptop, a book or a friend you just met. It's a place that doesn't try to be everything to everyone - but to its own it can be everything.<\/p>\n

Kitchen out of necessity, not fashion<\/h2>\n

The menu at Schizophrenia Caf\u00e9 is a tribute to the classics: oven casseroles<\/strong>, dumplings<\/strong>, nachos<\/strong>, snack boards<\/strong>, draught and bottled beer<\/strong>, simple drinks and hot brews. It's food that doesn't compete with the music or conversation - but supports them brilliantly.
